About Peter

A Different Kind of Support

Before sharing my story, it's important to note that I, Peter Hite, am not a licensed therapist or counselor. I offer something different: compassionate listening and experienced support, particularly for people navigating midlife transitions and feelings of disconnection and loneliness. I've learned that being fully present for another person can create profound shifts in how we see ourselves and our relationships. You should know I am supportive and not judgmental towards any religion or spiritual practice. My role is to support you in what you feel is right for you.

People often tell me I have a calming presence and that they feel safe sharing their deep concerns and aspirations. I believe this comes from my commitment to creating a space where you can be truly heard and seen, where your experiences are validated, and your growth is supported.

If I believe someone would benefit from professional therapeutic support, I maintain connections with licensed mental health professionals and can provide appropriate referrals.

My Journey

My path began in college, where I discovered my natural ability to help others navigate their relationships. What started with friends seeking perspective grew organically—soon, friends of friends were reaching out, even a professor who spoke with me about her decision to seek divorce. Recently, a licensed therapist began seeing me. Something about our conversations created a space where people felt honestly heard.

While I'm known professionally as an artist, I've spent over thirty years offering emotional support to people seeking deeper connections. This parallel path wasn't planned—it evolved naturally, guided by the trust people placed in me and the transformations I witnessed in their lives.

What I Offer

Think of me as a compassionate listener and supportive companion with decades of experience helping others navigate similar challenges, I provide:

  • A safe space to share your story with validation and without judgment

  • A balance between practical next steps and a deeper transformation of self

  • Listening, presence and feedback that helps you see yourself more clearly

  • Perspective gained from years of supporting others through similar experiences

  • Practical wisdom for navigating relationships

  • A steady source of experienced guidance and support

A Trusted Guide Through Disconnection

While I'm not a licensed therapist, I offer decades of experience helping people rebuild connection in their relationships and with themselves. Drawing from wisdom earned through years of supporting others through similar challenges, I help you:

  • Understand the roots of your isolation

  • Identify patterns blocking connection

  • Empower yourself regardless of your circumstances

  • Find your voice and rebuild confidence

  • Help create a bigger vision for yourself

  • Create meaningful bonds again

While therapy offers clinical treatment and coaching focuses on structured goals, I provide practical wisdom. Our conversations blend immediate strategies with a deeper exploration of what matters most to you. Whether addressing daily communication challenges or exploring questions of purpose, we work together to create lasting change in your relationships and sense of self.

Like my artwork, this work reveals layers of meaning and possibility. Each person's story deserves careful attention as we uncover paths toward genuine connection with ourselves and others.

Why I Choose Donations

I believe meaningful support should be available to everyone, regardless of their financial situation. Money should never be a barrier to finding connection and understanding. Through a donation-based approach, each person can contribute what they're able to while knowing they're valued equally. This creates a uniquely honest relationship - you're free to focus on your growth without financial pressure, and I can focus entirely on supporting your journey.

Must I contribute anything? Yes. The act of giving just a dollar can be powerful.
